Pet Food Shelf
At The Bond Between, we truly believe in the power of paying it forward. We have been fortunate enough to have the best volunteers, fosters, donors, and supporters, which has allowed us to grow quickly and effectively.
We have concentrated many of our outreach efforts on our tribal partnerships. We are humbled and excited to be a trusted partner of many tribal communities.
In 2021, Secondhand Hounds (now The Bond Between!) absorbed People and Pets Together. We then opened a new location in the heart of Minneapolis, dedicated to nurturing the precious BOND BETWEEN people and their pets.
Our mission is clear: to keep beloved pets where they belong – with their families.
We believe that every heart that has room for an animal should have one, and no family should have to make the heart-wrenching choice between putting food on the table or providing for their pets.
One of the core features of our Minneapolis location is the pet food shelf. The food shelf ensures that no pet goes hungry due to the financial constraints of their owners. This small, but impactful gesture helps maintain the sacred bond between pets and their families.
In 2023, we distributed over 348,000 pounds of dog food, cat food, and cat litter. The food shelf feeds an average of 2,300 animals in the Minneapolis community each and every month. The demand is higher than ever and we rely on donations and volunteers to keep the food shelf fully stocked.
