As the winter chill sets in, it's essential to ensure the safety and well-being of our beloved pets! Rachel Mairose, our amazing Executive Director, shares five crucial reminders to keep your pets safe and snug this season.
Limit Outdoor Time: Frostbite can happen quickly, so consider limiting outdoor time as much as possible.
Paw Protection: Protect your pet's paws during walks, from cold and ice, but also from salt scattered on roads and sidewalks.
Extra Layer for Short-Haired Dogs: Equip them with a cozy coat during longer walks to keep them warm and comfortable.
Beware of Antifreeze: While antifreeze may keep things running, it's also deadly for pets. Keep it out of reach, and clean up any spills promptly to prevent accidental ingestion.
Check for Hidden Animals: Animals seeking warmth may hide in unexpected places, such as beneath your car hood. Before starting your vehicle, give a gentle tap on the hood to ensure no furry friend is seeking shelter nearby.
Winter is also a wonderful time to foster animals! We are always looking for more fosters and volunteers, so if you can welcome a rescue animal into your cozy home this season, sign up to volunteer today!
