The Fourth of July is filled with bright picnics, shared laughter, and festive gatherings. But while our hearts are full of celebration, our furry family members often experience these festivities very differently. Independence Day is the single day of the year when most cats and dogs go missing, driven by the instinct to run from loud, confusing noises.

At The Bond Between, our mission is to protect these beautiful bonds and keep hearts full. Here is a quick guide to keeping your pets safe and secure.

Before the Celebration

  • Check Microchips & IDs: Make sure your contact info is up to date in your pet's

microchip registry. Remember, microchips are for identification, not GPS tracking!

  • Snap a Current Photo: Take a fresh, clear picture of your pets today just in case you ever need it for peace of mind.

  • Exercise Early: Take your long walks and potty breaks early in the morning, well before the fireworks begin.

 During the Celebration

  • Create an Indoor Sanctuary: Skip the fireworks and keep your pets safely inside. Set up a cozy room, preferably on a lower level of your home.

  • Double Your Security: Keep your pup on a leash even in a fenced yard, and consider using baby gates at external doors to prevent accidental dashing.

  • Soothe the Senses: Play soft music or turn on the TV to drown out outside noises. Keep them distracted with favorite treats and interactive toys.

  • Stay Close: Try not to leave your pets unattended during the peak hours of celebration. Your calm presence is their ultimate comfort.

After the Holiday

  • Scan the Yard: Walk your yard the next morning to clear away any stray firework debris or party favors before curious noses find them.

  • Clean Up Leftovers: Check your home and yard for rich food scraps, bones, or wrappers left behind by guests that c

    ould upset sensitive tummies.

Thank you for loving your pets so deeply and for helping us nourish the bond between people and animals every single day. Have a safe, beautiful Fourth of July!
